Frigging damned virus

Again, my computer has become a victim of that damned virus!! OOOHH I HATE IT!!!! It decreases the disk space of the C drive. I'm so frustrated!!! Does anyone know how to get rid of it without formatting and re-installing the Windows again?

Restore factory settings to the day before you got it.

I don't know when I got it lol AVG didn't tell me anything about a frigging virus.

Well if you don't know when you got it and the system can't pick it up you need to take it to a professiona place to get it fixed.

Oh, I think I know that virus. It's fun to mess around with. I've made one before, not too shabby. What it is is a lone file that gradually increases with random data, or probably just ascii code or random letters. Try looking for a TREMENDOUS file in your C:/Windows/system32 folder. It should be around the same amount that you've lost. If I'm wrong about that, then it may copy itself around. It'll be a .dll for both.

Dude there are like than 50 files in the system32 folder. How the heck am I supposed to find it?

Still no luck. I viewed every file in Detail view but still no luck. I think I should format the Windows then re-install it.

Did you try in the folders?
Or maybe seach for .dll in system32 folder?

Alright, this is what you do...

* ONLY WORKS WITH WINDOWS!! *

Do you have the origional disk that you got with the computer??

If you do follow these instructions...

when your computer starts up, press the F8 button like mad until the comand prompt pops up... if it dosent, then turn it off and try it again... when you DO succsesfully get this yp, look for the safe mode, go up to it using arrow keys and hit enter to activate it. The only reason you do this is because the virus may be hiding your memory in temporary internet fils, so this should stop anymore from being taken provided you do NOT open the internet... then go into control panel and search fot system restore, restore it back a month or two... Before the virus, then turn off safe mode and go back into normal mode * just turn off computer * when you do pop in disk and restore to origional factory settings...


IF YOU DO NOT HAVE DISK!!

If you do not have the disk, then your only hope is to go into the control panel and system restore it as far back as you can.... If this does not work, then I would advise going online and getting a free virus scanner... the one I use is Microsoft security essentials... If you use a mac then you may have to find another * BE CAREFUL! THERE ARE ALOT OF FAKE VIRUS SCANNERS OUT THERE! * then try to scan it out... if this does not work, then you will have to look folder by folder in all of your folders that arent in system... look for a large amount of memory... I know that with a PC al you have to do is hold your mouse over it and it will tell you how big it is... if you do not find it here, then I would go into system files * BE CAREFUL! DONT DELETE ANYTHING IMPORTANT!! * and look for it, it should be much bigger than all of the others...

If none of this works... Plan three...

with a PC, just go into your search option... click on all files and folders, under it click advanced options... select what size is it and type in the amount of memory lost, minus a few gigs... then select search hidden and system folders... then search, it should pop up for you!

Thanks for posting something this big for me Also, I found out that the stupid Photoshop was the cause (I think). When I looked into some folders, I found two files that were like big and their names started with Photoshop. I think that those were the temporary files of Photoshop. Then when I took a look in my Downloads folder in My Documents, it had used up a space of like 1 or 2 GB. Then I cleared that. Lol but I still think that there is a virus in my PC. Oh well, I shall do what you said Dawn, BTW, Vanisher had said the same thing to me too lol

Noooo... probably won't lol I'm just too lazy to even do that! Though, I still thank you all for willing to help me out in this dire situation. If I get sick of it, then I will try what all of you said, again
